Municipal Elections

The Municipal Clerk’s Office administers all municipal elections and voter registration for the City of Jackson in accordance with Mississippi law. This includes overseeing candidate qualifying, maintaining voter rolls, coordinating polling locations, and ensuring elections are conducted fairly and transparently.

Residents can register to vote through the Municipal Clerk’s Office, the Hinds County Circuit Clerk’s Office, at the Department of Public Safety, or by mail, and must be registered before the applicable deadline to participate in municipal elections.

Information about upcoming elections, sample ballots, qualifying periods, and official results is made available by the Clerk’s Office. In the 2025 cycle, qualifying for municipal candidates ran in January and sample ballots were posted in advance of primary and general elections.

The Municipal Clerk’s Office also works with the Mississippi Secretary of State to provide absentee voting options, including applications and in-person absentee schedules, ensuring voters who cannot appear at the polls on Election Day are able to participate.

For more details on voter registration, absentee ballots, and election schedules, contact the Municipal Clerk’s Office at City Hall or visit the Voter & Election Information page.
